8K -- Literature Circles
I must say that I am impressed with your work in the literature cirlce groups. When I overhear you discussing your novels the way we do when the entire class is reading the same book, I know that my work is not in vain. You have proven to me that you ARE paying attention and working towards greatness. And why shouldn't you? To use a phrase from modern slang, I love watching you "go hard" for reading! Likewise, I am looking forward to viewing your wiki pages. Put forth your best effort ... and then give an additional twenty percent! Good luck.
Requirements
Follow the directions on the assignment handout to create a page for your novel.
Use the editor tools here on wikispaces to manipulate the layout -- font, text, pictures, add-ons -- of your page.
While you may include any information and / or activities that you like, your page must have: a brief summary of the novel; general information about the author; your recommendation; at least one quiz; at least one activity; a list of related novels; artifacts from your presentation; and annotated citations.
7D -- Literature Circles
Although I was weary about introducing you to literature circles, I am happy that I did. Each group finished reading its novel and created good post-reading tests. I also enjoyed listening to your conversations about the the plots and their characters. I eagerly await your wiki pages for Forged by Fire, I Am The Cheese, Slam, and The Pig Man. Please follow the directions posted under "8K -- Literature Circles" above to complete your project. Give your best!

6H -- 32-Day Writing Challenge
I am certain that there were times when you did not feel like writing, but I cannot adequately express my admiration for your diligent work with the 32-Day Writing Challenge. Overall, you embraced the assignment and I learned that I have prolific writers in the sixth grade class. Many of your poems, short stories, and analytical responses could rival with the writing of students in higher grades. All in all, I am humbled and inspired by your work.
Now, I need you to take your writing to the next level. As I teach mini-lessons about grammar (writing mechanics) and writing style, you will return to your 32-Day entries to revise them for the the concepts that I introduce -- subject-verb agreement, comma usage, run-on sentences, fragments, tone, voice, rhythm, connotation, etc. Therefore, when instructed in class, select at least four entries that you would like to submit to the wiki. You must type your entries in Microsoft Word and save them to the main drive. When directed, you may upload your work to your class's wiki page.
Again, I am proud of your work with the writing challenge. Do not let this be the end of your writing. Maintain a personal journal of your writing, start your own blog or wiki, or simply take time to immortalize your thoughts on paper -- with special attention to grammar, form, and style ... but most importantly: your own edification.
